'We're in the Home Stretch'

After spending a few months downsizing and preparing the house for sale, our North Austin house sold in two days. We're now about 3 weeks away from traveling full time in an RV.

Our North Austin house received 8 offers in 2 days. We plan to hit the road in late March.

Our house is scheduled to close on March 13.

It's still kinda setting in, but we're feeling a mixture of excitement, a little fear, lots of anticipation!

We still have a few things to do before hitting the road. We'll need to empty and clean the house, move in temporarily with a friend while we purchase our RV, and get the rest of our affairs in order (mail service, insurance, etc.).

When we decided to start this journey 7 months ago, this all seemed far off and a big part of me thought it might not happen. One of us could have fallen ill. What if something went wrong with the house? Or maybe we'd simply change our mind.

"We're in the home stretch," was the phrase we'd use to motivate each other along the way. Painting and sometimes repainting the interior. Scrubbing every inch of tile grout in the house. Unloading years worth of possessions (and dealing with the dust and grime lurking behind everything). Keeping the house spotless. It was all overwhelming at times.

Everything is beginning to move fast, amplifying every emotion into a roller coaster of joy, occasional bouts of frustration, and a deep appreciation for being able to take this trip.

Now if we could only decide on what kind of RV to buy...
