After living in Yellowstone National Park since May, we've gotten used to some amazing things. Elk walking through our campsite. Dense forests full of life. Spectacular sights in every direction. With only 2 weeks left in my contract, we're planning our next move. We're also thinking about how much things will change in our day to day life, which I'll write about later.
Our next stay will be in Washington state, but not before we see some some cool sights along the way, and say farewell to a few new friends from Idaho. Beth, Cami, and Mike will host us for shenanigans around a bonfire in the Pocatello area. We met Beth and Cami at the Grant Village employee pub and became quick friends. A few weeks later, Cami's husband Mike joined us all for a bonfire at our campsite. Can't wait to see them again!
The route we picked from Yellowstone to Eastern Washington is nearly 1,000 miles long and we'll take about a week to drive it so we can enjoy such sights as 2 hot springs, a wildlife art museum, and the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas. If you know of anything we shouldn't miss along this route, please let us know!
After the road trip, we'll start our return to The Evergreen State in the northeast corner. We'll visit one of Denise's friends in Colville, who haven't seen each other in years. We've never met, but I know we'll get along great. I'm hoping we can help out on her rural land, which she recently bought.
After Colville, we'll head to the Puget Sound area where we'll visit family and friends. We're still working out the details, but we plan stops in Seattle, Tacoma, Whidbey Island, Port Townsend, and Port Orchard.
After that, we'll head into Oregon, then California via the Pacific Coast Highway. We still have to plan that route, but know we'll spend time in the Redwood Forest, on the Oregon Coast, the San Francisco area, and check out some sights in the Los Angeles area. We'd love to hear your ideas for must-see sights along the way, so again, please let us know!
After California, we'll head back to Texas to spend some time with friends and family there, then start planning our trip into Mexico. Yellowstone will be hard to top, but we're gonna try!
I really enjoy reading about your adventures! Thank you!
